About Us

Welcome to Lesbians On Screen, a labor of love by a small, independent collective of queer women dedicated to celebrating sapphic storytelling around the world.

lesbiansonscreen about us

Who We Are

We are a group of LGBTQ+ women—writers, media researchers, and longtime fans of lesbian and GL content. Based across different parts of Asia and America, we work together under pseudonyms to curate, review, and document lesbian-centered narratives in global cinema and television.

We built this site not for clicks, but out of a shared need: to find stories that reflect our lives, emotions, and relationships with honesty and depth.

Our Mission

Mainstream media often overlooks lesbian stories—or distorts them through the lens of male gaze or tokenism. Our mission is to provide a structured, heartfelt space where these narratives are organized, explored, and honored with care.

Whether it’s a forgotten Japanese drama, a groundbreaking Thai GL series, or a poetic French indie film—we want sapphic viewers to discover what resonates with them. And we want creators who tell these stories to be seen, remembered, and supported.

What We Cover

On this site, you’ll find:

  • Curated detail pages for lesbian/GL series and films

  • Thematic lists on age-gap, forbidden love, emotional repression, and more

  • Country-based sapphic film guides (France, India, China, etc.)

  • In-depth reviews that cover both narrative structure and emotional impact

Every piece is written by someone who watched the full show or film. We don’t publish AI-generated fluff—we care too deeply for that.

Our Experience & Editorial Process

Each editor on our team has watched hundreds of queer films and shows across multiple languages and cultures. Many of us have academic or professional backgrounds in media, screenwriting, or digital publishing.

Before publishing, we:

  • Cross-reference IMDb, official synopses, and director interviews

  • Fact-check character names, plot timelines, and cultural context

  • Add thoughtful emotional analysis from our lived experience as queer women

  • Link related titles to help viewers discover more sapphic content

We aim to balance structure (for searchability) with soul (for community).

Why You Can Trust Us

  • We watch everything ourselves:Every article is written by someone who actually watched the full series or film—not scraped, not AI-generated.

  • We care about accuracy:We do our best to verify basic facts like cast names, episode order, and country of origin.

  • We share from real experience:Our reviews often include emotional reflections and comparisons based on what we’ve personally seen and felt.

  • We’re a small team, not a content farm:All content is written and edited by a small group of queer women. We value quality over volume.

  • We’re building slowly and organically:This site is growing page by page, week by week. We’re not backed by a company—we’re just doing this because we love it.
