Plot
Hee Ram is a diligent, introverted student who prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Ga In, on the other hand, is a carefree, outgoing girl who believes in enjoying life. When their college elective class, “Love and Sexual Psychology,” assigns them to a semester-long fake dating project, neither of them is thrilled. Hee Ram finds Ga In too forward, while Ga In thinks Hee Ram is a buzzkill.
As they go through various couple-style “missions” together—from first dates to skinship—they begin to understand each other beyond the surface. The awkwardness, the tension, the slow glances… all start to feel less like a task and more like the beginnings of real affection.
Just when things seem to warm up, the series ends abruptly after only 4 episodes—leaving audiences hoping this is just Day 1 of a much longer love story.

Girlfriend Project Day 1 Review
Review

Story – 3.5/5
While the plot isn’t groundbreaking, the forced-dating setup works as a lighthearted gateway to a sapphic coming-of-age. The biggest flaw? It ends far too soon.
Acting – 4/5
Both leads deliver charming performances. Hee Ram’s shy yet yearning persona contrasts beautifully with Ga In’s relaxed confidence. Their chemistry feels natural and sweet, especially in the subtler moments.
Chemistry – 4.5/5
It’s undeniable. From the awkward stolen glances to the surprisingly tender kiss scene, the leads pull off that spark with remarkable authenticity for a show of this length.
Production – 3.5/5
The short-form, low-budget format doesn’t hinder the show’s cozy campus atmosphere. Solid editing and a clean visual style suit the story’s tone perfectly.
Ending – 4.5/5
Heart-fluttering, unfinished, and full of potential. The open ending feels more like a prelude to a full series than a true finale. Fans are already hoping for Season 2.
Best Scenes of Girlfriend Project Day 1
The kiss. No question. Ga In casually applies lipstick and jokingly offers Hee Ram a chance to “complete the assignment.” What starts as playfulness turns into genuine tension—then a surprisingly soft, real kiss. When Hee Ram pulls back, dazed and lip-stained, we all collectively forgot to breathe.
